COMPANY HISTORY
MICROSEARCH LLC was founded in 1996 by Richard C. Hofmann. His extensive experience in technical surveillance began in 1974 while he was an investigator with the Inglewood Police Department in California. During his 17-year career in law enforcement Mr. Hofmann obtained ongoing training in technical surveillance methods Since retiring from law enforcement, Mr. Hofmann attended several courses in electronics engineering technology and TSCM to stay on the cutting edge of the evolving technology and ultimately decided to launch the company.
Rick Hofmann was passionate about his field of expertise and taught criminal justice courses at the South Bay Police Reserve Academy and was invited as a guest lecturer for college level security courses. He was regularly retained as an expert witness on technical surveillance, wrote numerous articles for trade publications and professional association newsletters, and appeared on both radio and television programs discussing economic espionage.
Mr. Hofmann retired in 2019 and passed on the company to Jeff Jerger who he mentored and personally trained for 15 years. Mr. Hofmann continues to be involved with the company although now in an advisory and supporting role.
